PT PLN (Persero) has prepared 624 units of public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) in 411 locations to meet the need for electric vehicle charging during the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 homecoming periods.
“In the context of this homecoming, we are preparing 624 public charging stations for electric vehicles in 411 locations,” PLN Principal Director Darmawan Prasodjo said at the Java Madura Bali Load Control Center Main Unit on Sunday, Depok, West Java.
In addition to this, PLN has also alerted its staff at each SPKLU location to assist travelers when charging electric vehicles.
Darmawan revealed that the number of transactions at SPKLU this year increased 4 times compared to last year’s transactions. In addition to this, the energy consumption of electric vehicles has also increased by more than 4.5 times compared to last year.
“This means that here we see that the use of electric cars for New Year’s homecoming can proceed smoothly, and we also see that the public interest here is very good,” Darmawan said.
To meet electricity needs during the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 holidays, PLN has prepared a power supply capacity of 50 gigawatts.
Darmawan said the peak electricity load over the Christmas-New Year period this time was 35 gigawatts, which was an increase of 11% compared to last year’s peak electricity load.
“With a peak load condition of 35 gigawatts and an electricity supply of 50 gigawatts, the electricity supply to maintain Christmas and New Year 2024 is in a safe condition,” Darmawan said.
To ensure the availability of electricity during Christmas and New Year, PLN has prepared 1,800 generators, 750 Ups (UPS) and 1100 mobile substations. Furthermore, 81 thousand people were also alerted.
