People of various ethnicities in Solo distributed 10,000 basic food parcels

It should have been 17 years, but during the COVID-19 pandemic we stopped, so this is the 16th time we have done similar activities

Solo (MidLand) – People of various ethnicities from Solo, Central Java, members of Solo Together Forever (SBS), distributed more than 10,000 basic food parcels to disadvantaged residents.

SBS Coordinator Gareng S Haryanto, on the sidelines of the distribution of relief goods at Vastenburg Fort, Solo, Central Java, on Saturday, said that to be precise, there were 65 communities that took part in this activity.

“It should have been 17 years, but during the COVID-19 pandemic we stopped, so this is the 16th time we have done similar activities,” he said.

He explained that one of the objectives of this activity was to reduce the problem of communal conflict that was affecting Solo at the time.

“What Solo said was a short axis has not been proven,” he said.

He said that in the first few years the number of basic food parcels distributed to disadvantaged people was around 2,500 parcels. As time passed, the number of basic food parcels increased to over 10,000.

“From the beginning, the donors have been almost the same, including religious study groups, churches and the Surakarta Community Association -PMS-,” he said.

On the same occasion, the mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, appreciated the coherence of these activities.

“It is good that every year the enthusiasm of the residents is extraordinary. They have always been united since the time of Mr. Rudy – mayor of Surakarta FX Hadi Rudyatmo for the periods 2012-2015 and 2016-2021 – and they have remained united,” he said .

He also thanked the SBS members.

“Also, this was given before Eid, so it is very helpful,” he said.
