Pelindo supports Eid 2024 homecoming services in Merak and Ciwandan
Banten (MidLand) – State-owned enterprise (BUMN) Pelindo Regional 2 is committed to fully supporting the implementation of the Eid 2024 homecoming service at Ciwandan Port for motorcycles and basic food trucks at Merak Port for private cars.
“Full support, because we estimate there is an estimated 10 to 15 percent increase. So that will be our concern, especially in Banten,” the acting regional division operations chief for Pelindo Regional 2 Wasistianto said Friday.
Pelindo also helped create a connection with Indah Kiat to use their jetty as an additional parking area when it was observed that the Merak port was congested.
This assistance was confirmed by the ferry operator, namely PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Commercial and Services Director M Yusuf Hadi.
“Vehicles can be channeled into the Indah Kiat parking area with a capacity of up to 300 vehicles,” Yusuf said in Merak, Banten, on Friday.
The government began imposing operational restrictions on the transportation of goods from 09:00 WIB on Friday (5/4) to Friday (16/4).
Different types of transport vehicles will be restricted, namely vehicles with three or more axles, freight wagons with attached trains and trailers, as well as freight wagons carrying excavation products, mining products and construction materials.
This restriction is in accordance with Joint Decree (SKB) number: KP-DRJD 1305 of 2024, SKB/67/11/2024, 40/KPTS/Db/2024 issued by the Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub), Indonesian Traffic Police Corps ( National Police of Korlantas) and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) on 5 March 2024.
Therefore, the crossing route from Ciwandan Port to Banten will focus more on two-wheeled vehicles and a limited clause for trucks carrying essential goods. Meanwhile, four-wheeled vehicles can cross from Merak, Banten.
