Jakarta (MidLand) – Political observer Ahmad Khoirul Umam believes that Megawati Soekarnoputri’s political speech at the V PDI Perjuangan National Working Meeting (Rakernas) in Jakarta on Friday is a strong signal that Megawati supports Puan Maharani in regenerating himself as the next president general .
“Declaration “Megawati could be a hard code for the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) party structure to start consolidating its power to support Puan as Megawati’s successor in the future,” IndoStrategic’s executive director said in Jakarta on Friday.
In her political speech, PDI Perjuangan general president Megawati Soekarnoputri joked about switching sides with Puan, who is currently president of the Indonesian DPR.
“So when he said goodbye, yesterday he went to Bali, then when he went to Mexico. Then I said: “Change me”. I will be the president of the DPR, you will be the general president». He-he-he”, Megawati said laughing as she delivered her political speech.
“Okay, I’m the one who was told to stay here. Then the situation is unstable and unclear. He-he-he,” he continued.
According to Umam, who is also a professor of Political Science and International Studies at Paramadina University, this expression could be seen as Megawati’s open support for Puan to become the party’s next president general.
“Declaration “Megawati is a strong signal that there will be a regeneration of the PDIP leadership at the next PDIP congress,” Umam said.
He believed that the support was natural, because Puan was the biological daughter of Megawati, who also followed in her mother’s footsteps by serving in the PDI Perjuangan.
“Puan is not only a biological daughter, but also an ideological daughter of Megawati, who would never betray her mother’s struggle agenda,” political observer IndoStrategic said.
Not just a sign of support for Puan, Umam believes that Megawati’s political speech also indicates PDIP’s position as the opposition to the 2024-2029 government led by President-Vice President-elect duo Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
“The way Megawati arouses the enthusiasm of his paintings is by shouting PDIP is resilient, scared or not, brave or not“This is a strong indication that the PDIP will take a stand as the opposition to the Prabowo-Gibran government,” Umam said.
PDI Perjuangan held the 5th National Work Meeting in Jakarta from Friday to Sunday (26/5). 2,160 party executives participated in the activity, from the central level to branch administrators. However, at the opening of the meeting, full of political speeches by Megawati as president general, PDIP invited guests other than cadres, bringing the total participant for a total of 4,859 people.
The guests in addition to the invited cadres include leaders of political parties supporting Ganjar-Mahfud, ministers of PDI-P, friendly ministers, party elders, national personalities, volunteers supporting Ganjar-Mahfud, activists of civil society groups, activists of democracy and intellectuals.
The 5th national working meeting of PDIP raised the theme “Satyam Eva Jayate, truth will win” with the sub-theme “The strength of unity of peoples, the victorious path of truth”.
