Observer: Capital is an important aspect in the distribution of social assistance
Jakarta (MidLand) –
Indonesian Institute Research (TII) social sector observer and researcher Dewi Rahmawati assesses that access to capital is the most important aspect in the distribution or distribution of social assistance (bansos) from the government to the community.
He expressed this opinion in response to a debate between presidential candidates (candidates) on the issue of social welfare provision during the question and answer session between presidential candidates during the debate on the 2024 presidential election.
Dewi believes that the distribution of social assistance in the form of access to capital can subsequently become an incentive for beneficiaries to develop entrepreneurship, which is a labor-intensive activity.
In this way, he continued, social assistance provided by the government can provide long-term benefits, as well as reduce people’s dependence on the social assistance program.
“Even if the assistance is in the form of a money transfer, there is still a risk of fraud. “Therefore, social assistance needs to be complemented with long-term help,” he said.
On that occasion he reminded us of another no less important problem in the distribution of social assistance, namely the data on beneficiaries used by the government.
The Indonesian KPU has nominated three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates who will participate in the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar with serial number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka serial number 2 and Ganjar Pranowo- Mahfud MD serial number 3.
After the first debate for the 2024 presidential election on December 12, 2023, the second debate on December 22, 2023, the third debate on January 7, 2024, and the fourth debate on January 21, 2024, the KPU held the fifth debate at the Jakarta Convention Hall .
The final debate for the 2024 presidential election will also be the third debate bringing together presidential candidates and the KPU to address issues such as education, health, employment, culture, information technology, as well as social well-being and inclusion.
