O2SN 2023 officially opens, 1,557 students compete nationwide
TIME.CO, Jakarta – National Student Sports Olympics o O2SN was officially inaugurated on Monday 11 September 2023. O2SN presents itself as an event that brings development ideals sport national team and is included in the grand scheme of national sports.
Acting head of the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) Hendarman said the O2SN aims to identify top seeds and potential talent, supporting the achievement of long-term national sporting results. For the past 16 years, O2SN has captured the country’s sporting potential.
“You are true challengers, the golden generation who are the pride of your parents, the school and the region. Continue to strive to become champions and inspirations for the nation,” Hendarman said.
This national-level sports championship, contested by elementary, secondary and special school students (diksus), is composed of several sports or sports. There are athletics, swimming, badminton, karate, gymnastics, chess, bowls, table tennis and pencak silat. Students in the special education level play chess, bocce and ping pong.
The total number of participants who took part in O2SN this year reached 175,025 people. In the end, only 1,557 students made it to nationals. A total of 373 were from elementary school, 312 from middle school, 332 from high school, 309 from vocational school, and 231 from special education.
The implementation for the three levels of education is also different. Special education competes Sept. 10-15, secondary education Sept. 10-16, and elementary education Sept. 18-24.

At the opening of O2SN, which was also broadcast live via YouTube, future athletes gathered from all provinces, except Mountain Papua which had problems.
Deputy Deputy for Development, Sports and Success Center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bayu Rahadian, said competitions are the right way to measure training results. “Continuous training without competition will not allow you to know the extent of progress and results achieved by athletes after practicing,” he said.
Vice President of Commission X DPR RI Dede Yusuf reminded participants to compete honestly. “Have fun competing, compete honestly,” he said as he officially opened O2SN 2023.
