Most major Indonesian cities experienced light rain and cloudy skies on Friday
Jakarta (MidLand) – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most major Indonesian cities will be hit by light rain and thick clouds on Friday.
BMKG meteorologist Ida Pramuwardani, in a report monitored in Jakarta, said the potential for light rain or precipitation less than 2.5 mm per hour would fall on the cities of Ambon, Jayawijaya, Nabire, Jayapura, Merauke, Mamuju, Tanjung Selor, Denpasar, Serang, Jambi, Bengkulu, Pangkal Pinang, Banda Aceh, Medan, Padang, Pekanbaru with temperatures ranging from 24-31 degrees Celsius.
Some other cities like Jambi, Mamuju, Makassar, Kendari, Palu, Manado, Nabire will receive moderate rain or rainfall above 4.0 mm per hour with temperatures between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius.

For Gorontalo, Semarang, Surabaya, Mataram, Kupang, DI Yogyakarta, Makassar, Palu, Sorong, Ternate, Manokwari, Kendari, Manado, Pontianak, Samarinda, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, Lampung and Jakarta, the forecast is sunny-cloudy, mostly cloudy all day with temperatures ranging from 25-31 degrees Celsius.
He explained that Cyclone Bebinca in the Pacific Ocean east of the Philippines has attracted air currents and brought moist air into the cyclone area. This condition makes areas of Indonesia north of the equator, such as Kalimantan, Sulawesi and parts of the North Moluccas, sunny and cloudy.
Equatorial rocky wave activity in the Sumatra region increases the potential for rain clouds in the region. Areas of wind convergence are observed around the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean north of Papua. This condition is also expected to increase the growth of rain clouds.
Surface winds in Indonesia are generally dominated by winds blowing from the southeast at a speed of 9-45 kilometers per hour.
