Mojokerto Regency Government receives emergency disaster assistance from BNPB

A total of 263 hectares of rice fields have been flooded and are at risk of losing their harvest

The government of Mojokerto Regency, East Java, has received assistance from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) for emergency management in the local district.

This assistance was symbolically handed over by the Director of Emergency Resource Support, Deputy for Emergency Management, BNPB, Agus Riyanto, to the Regent of Ikfina, during a working visit to East Java, on Tuesday.

“The operational assistance for the Disaster Emergency Management Post received from the Government of Mojokerto Regency consists of ready-to-use funds amounting to IDR 200 million, equipment and logistical support assistance such as 300 food parcels of basic, 300 packs Hygiene kit“, 300 packs of protein biscuits, 300 pieces of ready-made food, 5 units of Alkon pumps, 100 units of velbed, 1008 bottles of liquid soap, 50 units of family tents, 2 units of refugee tents, 1 unit of inflatable boat with motor “Mojokerto regent Ikfina Fahmawati said in the statement while in Mojokerto.

Ikfina explained that the cause of the flood disaster in Mojokerto regency was heavy rain lasting more than four hours which resulted in a drastic increase in water discharge into three rivers in Bumi Majapahit area, namely Kromong River, Klorak River and Boro. River that became one in the Brangkal River. .

“Increased water discharge has resulted in the breaking of the embankment of Brangkal River, Wringinrejo village. Also, the Bupak bridge connecting two villages, namely Kebontungul village and Gondang village, has been damaged. Two places of the Sadar River embankment broke in Kedunggempol village, Mojosari District A total of three places of the “Gembolo River embankment broke in Tunggalpager village and 2 places of the Gembolo River embankment broke are broken in Jabontegal village, Pungging sub-district,” Regent Ikfina said.

Apart from causing the river bank to break, the Ikfina regent also said the flood catastrophe resulted in the flooding of rice fields in six villages in the Mojosari district area.

“A total of 263 hectares of rice fields have been flooded and are at risk of losing their harvest,” he said.

He explained that as a result of the flood, at least more than 6,000 residents of seven sub-districts, namely Pungging, Mojosari, Bangsal, Mojoanyar, Sooko, Puri, Kutorejo sub-districts were affected.

“As a result of the flood, at least 6,232 families were affected. In addition to this, the efforts we made were the evacuation of vulnerable residents, the evacuation of affected residents. We also prepared evacuation places, set up public kitchens, “We have set up health facilities. In addition to this, we have carried out water extraction actions, interventions to close the broken embankments and distribute urgent needs”, he said.

Regent Ikfina also explained that the urgent needs distributed by the Mojokerto Regency Government to the flood-affected residents, such as aid for packaged rice, blankets, medicines, drinking water, mattresses, basic food parcels, clean water and house cleaning.

Besides that, he also explained that after the flood disaster in the Bumi Majapahit area, there were several structures that needed to be repaired.

“Rebuild Bupak Bridge, Gondang. Repair Sadar River Embankment, then repair Gembolo River Embankment and repair Brangkal River Embankment,” he said.

BNPB Emergency Resource Support and Deputy Emergency Management Director Agus Riyanto said the distribution of this aid stemmed from a report sent to BNPB, so BNPB also followed up on the report.

“So later, God willing, we will help. Later the province may also help in the near future, so please ask permission to receive it first,” he said.

Agus also said that after a disaster occurs, it is necessary to take action to change the emergency status to alert, providing easy access and different facilities to the community and welcoming volunteers.

“So this is actually our capital base, right? This is first aid,” he said.

Agus also said that regarding the issue of disasters that occurred, these were caused by global warming which made the climate uncertain, resulting in the occurrence of various natural disasters.
