Kediri (MidLand) – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has asked owners of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to dare to be creative and create new innovations so that their businesses grow.
Sandiaga who attended the event garage The increase in innovation and entrepreneurship in Creative Districts/Cities (KaTa Creative) in Kediri, East Java, on Saturday evening, revealed that the potential of Kediri City is vast. This city is famous for its cuisine, crafts and fashion, so it is considered to have enormous creative economic potential.
“Creative economy players need creativity and innovation to reach a broader market using currently developing technology,” he said.
According to him, with innovation and digitalisation, it is believed that creative economy players can become the backbone of the regional economy, as well as create jobs for the community.
He also provided tips for being successful in developing a business, including networking not only with other MSME players, the government or the private sector, but also networking through digital media using technology ‘information, such as social media for market Square, MSMEs can expand their networks to achieve their marketing reach.

Furthermore, currently an international class airport has been built in Kediri, so the potential for MSME development is also greater. Commercial opportunities are also increasingly open.
“Kediri City has great creative economic potential, especially in the culinary, craft and fashion subsectors,” he said.
Through the Creative KaTa program, Sandiaga Uno hopes to create collaboration between corporate stakeholders and everyone stakeholders, so that the main sub-sectors of Kediri city can encourage the development of other sub-sectors of the creative economy.
“This way the ecosystem becomes stronger, the wheels of the economy move, jobs are created. The creative economy is the backbone of the regional economy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kediri acting mayor Zanariah, who was also present at the site, said government support, including from the centre, for the development of MSMEs is absolutely necessary.

In Kediri, he said, there are several products that have been exported, including betta fish. However, he hopes that more and more creative businesses will be able to penetrate national and even international markets.
“Thank you for being willing to come to Kediri to encourage MSMEs. The city government also never stops assisting MSMEs. The state is there, but you have to have a steel mentality. This is what we emphasize to the men of business,” he said.
Around 150 entrepreneurs from the creative economy participated in this activity. Kediri City is the seventh location in a series of Indonesian Creative Regency/City Development (KaTa Creative) programs in 2024.
