Minister of Communications and Information said PDN attacker demanded $8 million ransom

Jakarta (MidLand) – Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that the party that attacked the National Data Center (PDN) with a ransomware virus has demanded a ransom of 8 million US dollars.

“Yes, according to the team (which is asking for) $8 million,” Budi Arie said when meeting him Monday at the presidential palace in Jakarta.

He said the National Cyber ​​​​​​and Crypto Agency (BSSN) held a press conference at the Ministry of Communications and Information this afternoon on the attack on PDN.

Budi Arie revealed that the attack was a new type of Lockbit 3.0 ransomware virus.

An outage occurred at the National Data Center on Thursday 20 June, impacting several public services. One of the services affected is immigration.

Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), Silmy Karim, said that as of Saturday (22/4), immigration services have been restored.

Immigration decides to move the data center (database) 12 hours have passed since the identification of technical problems at the Ministry of Communications and Information of the PDN (Kominfo).
