Minister of Communications and Information representing Indonesia received ITU award at WSIS 2024
Jakarta (MidLand) – Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi represented Indonesia to receive an award given by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) during the event World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Awards 2024.
Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi will attend the WSIS Awards which will be held on May 28, 2024 at 5pm Geneva time, Switzerland.
“We are, of course, very proud of Indonesia’s various initiatives and achievements. “This is clear evidence of the progress of the national digital transformation, marked by various useful innovations resulting from the adoption of digital technology,” Budi said on Tuesday, explaining the involvement of Indonesia in the 2024 WSIS Awards event.
At the 2024 WSIS Awards, approximately 360 initiatives from various countries are expected to compete for the title among 18 existing nomination categories.
This year, Indonesia managed to select 12 works as candidates for the 2024 WSIS Awards with various themes in line with the WSIS action lines.

WSIS Action Lines is a global guide to using information and communications technologies (ICT) to achieve sustainable development.
In fact, Indonesia has consistently achieved victories and results at the WSIS Awards since 2017, winning the title Sample or favorite winner and Winner or the main winner.
Several initiatives from Indonesia have successfully passed a rigorous selection process by the jury committee and a public voting process.
To date, Indonesia has won the title five times Winner for the ICT Watch initiative (2017), Indonesia Baik Kominfo (2018), National Cybercreation Digital Literacy Movement (2019), 8villages (2021) and Jakarta Smart City (2022).
“So far, Indonesia has actively presented various initiatives in the ICT sector and won awards in the WSIS Prizes event. This demonstrates Indonesia’s active role in realizing the use of ICT to realize digital inclusion. “The hope is that this result can continue to be maintained and even encourage other innovative actions”, said Budi Arie.
In this year’s WSIS Awards, Indonesia’s work as a nominee focused on various ICT fields, from strengthening infrastructure, to capacity building, to the government’s role in promoting ICT for development.

The visit of the Minister of Communication and Information to Geneva received the full support of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia (PTRI).
