Minister of Communication and Information suggests young people sell online instead of gambling online: Okezone techno

JAKARTA – Minister of Communication and Information (Kominfo), Budi Arie Setiadi has once again advised Indonesian people to avoid online gambling. Budi said people should spend their own funds to start selling online.

“I am very happy with the SME digital players, most of whom are young, I see their young faces full of hope. “That’s why I am happy, instead of gambling online, it is better to sell online,” he said on Friday (22/9/2023) the Minister of Communication and Information Budi.

Previously, the Minister of Communication and Information had said that the similarities between online gambling and online lending are like brothers. According to him, these two prohibited activities cause a lot of harm to society.

“From our temporary monitoring, this illegal loan is the little brother of online gambling. So, after playing online gambling, short of money, he borrowed money. Borrow money, play money new, you lose again. So dig a hole, dig a hole, dig another hole,” he said.

Budi explained the government’s efforts and firm stance in responding to the increase in online lending and gambling by taking swift measures such as cutting off access. However, this effort requires support from several parties.

“We are currently in discussions with the OJK regarding the illegal loans. “We have to anticipate because it’s really like loan sharks strangling the community,” she explained.

“So we will take measures to close these illegal loans immediately, so we ask for your support. We will do all this so that our digital space can be better,” he continued.
