Megawati introduced Pancasila during her visit to Russia and Azerbaijan
Jakarta (MidLand) – The fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri introduced Pancasila to the world community during a series of visits to St. Petersburg, Russia and Samarkand, Azerbaijan this month.
Vice President of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Basarah, who is close to Megawati, explained that in the two countries Megawati will hold public lectures and participate in the Chancellor’s Forum in St. Petersburg, and later received an honorary doctorate from Silk Road University in Samarkand.
“Ms. Megawati will use this moment to promote Pancasila ideology around the world,” said Ahmad Basarah, who is currently in St. Petersburg, Russia, when he is confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.

Megawati arrives in St. Petersburg on Saturday (14/9), and today and in the coming days we will participate in several activities.
“In St. Petersburg, Ms. Megawati will meet with the Governor of St. Petersburg. Petersburg, then held a public lecture on the historic campus of St. Petersburg University,” said Ahmad Basarah.
He explained that the meeting was a form of global recognition for the fifth president of the Republic of Indonesia, who is also currently the chairman of the board of directors of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN) and chairman of the board of directors of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP).
According to him, Russia actually gave recognition to Megawati in 2021, when Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Megawati Soekarnoputri the Star of Friendship on June 2, 2021.
Basarah said the Friendship Star award was given by the Russian government to Megawati because she was considered instrumental in strengthening the friendship between Russia and Indonesia.

According to him, after completing her activities in Russia, Megawati will continue her journey to Samarkand, Azerbaijan. In Samarkand, Megawati will make a pilgrimage to the tomb of Imam Al-Bukhari and will receive an honorary doctorate from Silk Road University on September 21, 2024.
“This visit continues strong historical relations and will always be remembered by the people of both countries, considering that President Sukarno is considered the initiator of the restoration of the tomb of Imam Al-Bukhari,” Basarah said.
Therefore, even though the flight time to St. While in St. Petersburg and Samarkand, Basarah assessed that Megawati was enthusiastic about accepting invitations from several institutions in Russia and Azerbaijan.
“From the conversation with Ms. Megawati, I got the impression that Ms. Megawati was enthusiastic about attending St. Petersburg and Samarkand,” Basarah said.
