Mauricio Pochettino has officially resigned from Chelsea
Jakarta (MidLand) – Mauricio Pochettino officially resigned from his position as Chelsea manager on Wednesday after having a meeting with the London club’s top officials.
“Chelsea FC can confirm that the club and Mauricio Pochettino have agreed to part ways,” Chelsea said in a statement on their official website.
Pochettino’s departure came after meetings with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, as well as co-owner Behdad Eghbali over the last two days. Although Chelsea could finish sixth in the Premier League table after winning 2-1 over Bournemouth.
However, this record is considered bad after he was provided with an expensive squad in the last summer transfer window.
Chelsea have spent more than £500 million to attract many players, even breaking Moises Caicedo’s current transfer record with a value of £115 million.
Pochettino in his statement thanked the club’s directors for giving him the confidence to manage Chelsea.
“Thanks to the owner of the club. The club is in a good position to continue to progress in the English Premier League and Europe in the coming years,” Pochettino said.
In addition to Pochettino, four of his assistants also left Stamford Bridge: Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino.
