Malick Thiaw is confirmed to be out for a long time with a hamstring injury
Jakarta (MidLand) – Malick Thiaw is sure to be out for an extended period after AC Milan announced on Wednesday that he suffered a torn hamstring while playing against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
In a statement cited by AFP, Milan explained that German defender Thiaw underwent tests on Wednesday morning which highlighted “a serious muscle-tendon tear of the hamstring of the left thigh”.
Milan did not say how long Thiaw will be out but added that the 22-year-old will undergo further tests in the next seven to 10 days.
Italian media reported that Thiaw may be absent for around two months.
Thiaw was injured at the start of the second half when they lost 1-3 against Dortmund on Tuesday (29/11). This defeat means that Milan have the opportunity to be eliminated from Europe’s highest level club competition early.

The injury suffered by Thiaw is the 25th problem suffered by Milan this season, after the seven-time European champions entered the match against Dortmund with eight key players injured, including one of their star players, Rafael Leao.
Milan are now at the bottom of Group F and to reach the round of 16 they will have to win the last match of the group stage next month at Newcastle United, hoping that leaders Dortmund win over PSG.
Stefano Pioli’s team is currently in third place in the Italian championship standings, six points behind leaders Inter, and will host Frosinone on Saturday (2/12).
