Limited trial of Meta AI on Whatsapp, Instagram and Messenger

Jakarta (MidLand) – Meta is currently testing Meta AI, chatbots artificial intelligence, on social media WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger in India and some parts of Africa.

“Our generative AI expertise is in various stages of development, and we are publicly testing some in limited capacity,” Meta wrote based on a Tech Crunch report, Thursday (4/11).

Numerous Meta social media users in India and Africa reported that Meta AI functionality was available in their applications. India is Meta’s largest single market, there are more than 500 million Facebook and WhatsApp users in the country.

Meta announced that it would develop and experiment chatbots and other artificial intelligence technologies in February 2023. Then, in September 2023, Meta announced Meta AI, which is designed to answer user questions and has the ability to produce photorealistic images with just text instructions.

With the huge number of Instagram and WhatsApp users reaching billions of monthly active users, this is an opportunity for Meta to offer its AI services.

By integrating Meta AI into WhatsApp and Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg’s company can introduce advanced language models and image creation capabilities to a wider audience, potentially providing a competitive advantage over competitors who have already developed similar technology.

In a separate statement earlier this week, Meta will soon launch Llama 3, the latest version of its large open source language model (open source). The large language model is scheduled to be released next month.
