JAKARTA – TikTok will start considering advertising services on its platform. Users will then immediately find advertisements suited to their interests in the search function.

Reporting from Dedicate onselfOn Wednesday (8/23/2023), Chinese social media integrated advertising into search results. The company says this will make it easier for users to find branded content based on their hashtags or keyword-rich search.

However, Tiktok said the ads it displayed were paid/sponsored video ads purporting to make it easier for brands to search. After that Tiktok’s algorithm will recommend users of ads that match them.

TikTok says tapping on sponsored ads won’t interfere with user searches. Ads aim to reflect a new experience, for both users and advertisers.

From the advertiser’s point of view, they can use this feature automatically. But they can choose not to activate it or not.

On the other hand, the new offer from TikTok is actually not that new. The same thing has also been implemented by Instagram.

Tiktok itself is quite popular in Indonesia. In fact, they are currently working on a payment license in Indonesia to help local content creators and sellers on their platform.

Subsequently, this payment license will allow TikTok to profit from transaction fees and make it compete directly with other Southeast Asian e-commerce giants, such as Shopee and Lazada.
