Kupang (MidLand) – The Gewayantana Larantuka Class III Airport Organizing Unit (UPBU), East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) office has prepared a flight policy to anticipate an increase in passengers during the Semana Santa pilgrimage during the celebration of Easter.
“We, as organizers of the airport, are ready to facilitate this additional flight “(Additional flights) are needed based on the increase in passengers,” UPBU Class III chief Gewayantana Larantuka Puguh Lukito said when contacted by Kupang on Monday.
Semana Santa pilgrimage is one of the religious activities widely participated in by people from both inside and outside the country in Larantuka city.
According to information obtained in a coordination meeting with the regional government, the forecast is that pilgrims could reach 20 thousand-25 thousand by the end of March 2024.
To anticipate an increase in passengers arriving using air transport, the UPBU Class III Gewayantana Larantuka office has also prepared additional flight policies for airlines.
In case of increase in the number of passengers due to booking of airline tickets, airport services are prepared for two or three flights instead of the normal flight.
Besides that, his party has also strengthened security features at the airport, such as: Aviation safety (AVSEC), as well as calling for support for cooperation between the police and the TNI, both air and land forces, by increasing the number of personnel and guard time.
He highlighted the commitment of the UPBU Class III Gewayantana Larantuka Office in implementing aspects of safety, security and good service for users of air services.
For this reason his party has also carried out some technical interventions, such as the renewal of the signs on the airside, the reorganization of the runway and the adequate organization of passenger reception at the airport.
He hopes that the various efforts made and policies prepared will improve the safety, security and comfort aspects for service users who wish to make a pilgrimage to Larantuka using air transport.
“We, as an airport management unit under the Ministry of Transportation, definitely adhere to this commitment,” Puguh Lukito said.
