Lampung exports 4,176 tons of fresh pineapple to China

Besides China, we will export to other countries such as New Zealand and other potential countries

Bandarlampung (MidLand) – The head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin), Sahat Manaor Panggabean, announced that 4,176 tons of fresh pineapple were exported from Lampung province to China.

“The government is currently encouraging the export of products from various local products as much as possible to improve the economy of the society,” Sahat said on Thursday, releasing the exports in Bandarlampung, Lampung.

He said this time his party facilitated the export of fresh pineapples from Lampung to China.

“The export value of fresh pineapple is quite high, amounting to IDR 39.8 billion with a total of 4,176 tons, and the demand is also quite high,” he said.

He explained that the struggle to export fresh pineapple to China, the export destination country, has been going on for eight years.

“It’s quite a tough fight because eight years have passed and now we can export, this is amazing. Later, besides China, we will export to other countries like New Zealand and other potential countries,” he said.

Meanwhile, Welly Soegiono, corporate affairs director of PT GGP, said the demand for pineapple from China is quite high, as the population has reached 1.4 billion people.

“If one person could consume one pineapple per year, total consumption would reach 370 million tons,” he said.

He said that to maintain pineapple productivity, his party continues to provide assistance to farmers in Tanggamus Regency, covering 450 hectares.

“This assistance is necessary because if they (farmers) took care of it themselves, it would be difficult. We currently have 21 certificates globally. We already export to Singapore and Japan every week,” he said.

According to him, to date there are 80 containers of pineapples that have been exported in several stages, while paying attention to their quality.

“80 containers have been exported, but this is done in stages. So partner farmers will also continue to prosper,” he said.
