KPU Bogor Regency set a pair of leopards for the Pilkada mascot
Bogor Regency (MidLand) – The General Election Commission (KPU) of Bogor Regency, West Java, has decided that the mascots for the 2024 regional elections or Pilkada will be a pair of leopards called Pati and Wati.
Bogor Regency KPU Chairman Muhammad Adi Kurnia, after launching the Bogor regent and vice regent elections in Cibinong on Sunday, revealed that this mascot will be assigned to the Bogor Regency KPU during the 2024 regional elections .
“Incidentally, our mascot is taken from a leopard, the philosophy comes from the leopard which comes from West Java,” Adi said.
He explained that the stages of the Pilkada 2024 will last the next 170 days, with voting taking place on Wednesday 27 November 2024.
Adi called for the full support of all stakeholders, including the community and the government of Bogor Regency. Because, he said, holding regional elections in Bogor regency is not an easy thing, considering that the population of the area is above average and reaches 5.7 million people.
“Of course we need it support (support) from the local government together with stakeholders (stakeholders) for the implementation of the 2024 regional elections,” Adi said.
Meanwhile, the creator of the Bogor Regency KPU mascot illustration, Hendra Abriansyah, said the male leopard character was called Pati, which means Regional Election for Regent. Meanwhile, for the character of the female leopard, Hendra gave her the name Wati, or short for Vice Regent.
“The character is based on the Javan leopard (Panthera pardus melas) on Mount Pangrango,” he said.
According to Hendra, the character of the leopard was taken from an animal from Mount Pangrango, with the aim of supporting the conservation of the leopard, which is now almost extinct.
“The mascot can be a symbol of awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and biodiversity,” he explained.
Besides that, Hendra continued, the presence of the leopard as a mascot reminds the community to be equally responsible in protecting animal and biological habitats in Bogor Regency.
