KM ITB’s reaction to campus offering student loans to pay college tuition

MidLand, Jakarta – Student family (KM ITB) said they reject the online loan option offered by the campus to students to pay off individual tuition or UKT arrears. The reason, according to KM ITB cabinet chairman Yogi Syahputra, is because this method is onerous. “ITB should be able to provide 1% interest-free loans or installment payments,” he said on Friday, January 26, 2024.

According to KM ITB, he advised students not to take loans online. However he suspected that someone had borrowed, but the amount was not much. KM ITB does not register students who take out loans online.

In reality, according to Yogi, the main problem is the new policy of the ITB rectorate. “The point is to force students who still have UKT arrears to take leave,” he said. The number is based on KM ITB data collection from 120 students.

At the same time, ITB offers payment options in the form of online loans via the Danacita platform. The offer involves offering a loan of IDR 12.5 million with payments of IDR 15.5 million for 12 months. Following this issue, on Thursday, January 25, 2024, KM ITB held a meeting with the Directorate of Student Affairs and the Directorate of Finance.
