Ketum ADDAI: Ramadhan is the time to practice patience, peace, love

Jakarta (MidLand) – General President (Ketum) of the Indonesian Dai-daiyah Association (ADDAI) Moch. Syarif Hidayatullah said Ramadhan is an impetus to practice the values of patience, peace and compassion.

According to him, Ramadhan is also called as serene grace that is, this month full of grace is not only dotted with fasting rituals. The essence should be to transform Muslims into individuals who spread grace.

“This is a time when patience, peace and compassion become the focus of training. So if someone fasts, but does not practice these qualities, he actually fails to understand the true essence of fasting,” Syarif said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

This academic from Jakarta’s Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University explained that in the month of Ramadan, Muslims are trained to be patient, lower their ego and love their fellow man. Fasting Muslims should also avoid provocations and conflicts.

“Therefore, if there is someone who fasts and actually spreads conflicts and negative things, then it is certain that he has failed to understand the essence of fasting itself. If someone understands the essence of fasting, he will definitely be a friendly and friendly person. spread grace to all human beings,” Syarif said.

Fasting also plays an important role in preventing someone from experiencing the most righteous attitude. He explained that arrogance and self-righteous attitude are often caused by a person’s limited knowledge and intuition.

On the other hand, he believes that fasting also has a positive influence in reducing the phenomenon of Islamophobia. This can be done by using the month of Ramadan as an impetus to better understand religious teachings.

According to him, understanding religious teachings well is the main thing to reduce Islamophobia. The essence of religious teachings must therefore be implemented in everyday life.

He also stressed the importance of Muslims understanding that religious teachings do not support any form of violence. In this case Syarif highlighted the concept of jihad which is often misunderstood and used for political or economic interests.

Muslims, he said, must understand religious teachings from credible sources. This includes experienced ulama who are capable of bringing peace to society, especially among Indonesians with diverse backgrounds.

“In Islam, plurality of understanding of religious teachings is clearly allowed and recognized. Therefore, people who truly understand Islamic teachings will appreciate diversity and will not feel that their opinion is the only correct one,” he said.
