Kendari Customs and Excise arrests hundreds of thousands of illegal cigarettes in three shops

Kendari (MidLand) – By carrying out an operation to combat illegal cigarettes, Kendari Customs and Excise has been able to take action against hundreds of thousands of illegal cigarettes. The operations were carried out by Kendari Customs and Excise in 3 locations in the South East Sulawesi region from 6 to 14 November 2023.

This action was carried out thanks to information from the public. The Kendari Customs and Excise Office continued by gathering information and monitoring the 3 suspected shops. “As a result, we found 105,680 illegal cigarettes in the three shops,” said Kendari customs office head Tonny Riduan P. Simorangkir.

He added that Operation Combat Illegal Cigarettes is one of Customs’ steps to prevent the circulation of illegal cigarettes in the market. This action is clear evidence of Kendari Customs and Excise’s seriousness in reducing the circulation of illegal cigarettes, especially in Southeast Sulawesi, in order to protect national interests and optimize state revenue in the excise sector.

“We invite the public to take part in the eradication of illegal cigarettes. “If you find illegal sales of cigarettes on the market, please report to us immediately,” Tonny concluded.
