Kaspersky stressed that it is not involved in activities that threaten the security of the United States

Jakarta (MidLand) – Cyber security company Kaspersky stresses that it is not involved in activities that threaten the national security of the United States (US), but says it has significantly contributed to protecting the country from various cyber threats.

“Kaspersky is not involved in activities that threaten the national security of the United States and, in fact, has made a significant contribution in reporting and protecting it from various cybercriminals targeting national interests and allies,” Kaspersky said in a statement received from MidLand, Monday (24/6).

Kaspersky has responded to the US Department of Commerce’s decision to ban the use of its software in the country.

The company said the decision does not affect its ability to conduct sales and promote cyber threat intelligence offerings and/or training in the United States.

They assessed that the US Department of Commerce made its decision based on the current geopolitical climate and theoretical concerns, and not based on a comprehensive assessment of the integrity of Kaspersky products and services.

“The company intends to pursue all legally available options to maintain its current operations and relationships,” the Russia-based company said.

Kaspersky said it has successfully delivered on its mission to build a more secure future by protecting more than one billion devices for more than 26 years.

They provide the best products and services to customers around the world to protect them from all types of cyber threats and have repeatedly proven their independence from any government.

Additionally, Kaspersky said it has implemented significant transparency measures to demonstrate its commitment to integrity and trust.

This ban is also believed to have removed the freedom of consumers and organizations to choose the protection they want, forcing them to abandon the anti-malware technology offered by Kaspersky.

This caused severe disruption to customers who had to quickly replace technology they had relied on for years.

Kaspersky considers the US Department of Commerce’s decision to ignore existing evidence.

“We look to the future and will continue to defend ourselves against actions that seek to unfairly damage our reputation and business interests,” he said Kaspersky.

The US government has announced a ban on the sale of Kaspersky antivirus in the country and has asked Americans who use the software to switch to other vendors due to security risks.

The US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security said it imposed a “first-of-its-kind” ban, arguing that Kaspersky threatens US national security and user privacy because the company has based in Russia.

“Russia has demonstrated its ability, and even more so, its intent to exploit Russian companies like Kaspersky to collect and weaponize Americans’ personal information. And that’s why we were forced to take the actions we took today,” U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said in a call with reporters.
