JWCW 2023 Opening Features Cast of Film ‘Inshallah A Boy’

Jakarta (MidLand) – The opening of the Jakarta World Cinema Week (JWCW) 2023 film festival at CGV Grand Indonesia, Jakarta on Saturday (11/11) was attended by one of the actors of the film “Inshallah A Boy”, Mohammed Al Jezawi and was the opening film of this year’s JWCW event.

“Let’s start today, enjoy the world cinema that can be enjoyed at World Film Week in Jakarta,” JWCW Executive Director Frederica said in a press release on Sunday.

Currently, the JWCW 2023 festival will take place from November 11 to 18, 2023.

“I saw this film when I attended the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. In my opinion, the story is relate with the situation in Indonesia, with a Muslim majority. Simple, on the division of the inheritance. However, there is no Indonesian film that tells a story like this. “This film also represents Jordan at the 2024 Oscar Film Festival,” said JWCW Festival Director Shandy Gasella.

During the question and answer session, one of the actors of the film “Inshallah A Boy”, Mohammed Al Jezawi, admitted that he liked Indonesia. Although he was hesitant at first, he felt that the good Indonesian people made him want to return to Indonesia with his colleagues for a vacation.

“I like really the same Indonesia and its people are kind, in my opinion Want i came here again with friends for a holiday. At first I was scared and doubtful, after trying it I liked it Very. The air is good, it’s nice here. “We hope everyone can be entertained by the movie ‘Inshallah A Boy,’” Jezawi said.

“Inshallah A Boy” is a film directed by Jordanian director Amjad Al-Rasheed. This film was chosen as the opener for JWCW 2023 because it dares to raise issues related to the law on inheritance rights in Islam which affected a widow with a child (a woman). This premise is believed to have a close issue and strong relevance to the Indonesian public.

The film “Inshallah A Boy” also managed to receive warm praise after the 2023 Cannes film festival and was presented as Jordan’s official representative film for the 2024 Oscars.

Meanwhile, the JWCW film festival features around 90 selected films from 54 countries. Viewers can watch these selected films directly at the CGV Grand Indonesia cinema or online at the KlikFilm pay video service.
