JK expressed Indonesian solidarity and condolences to Palestine

Jakarta (MidLand) – The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, stressed his attitude of solidarity and expressed the support of the Indonesian people for Palestinian independence when he met with the political leader of the Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh, in Doha, Friday (12/7).

In an official statement received in Jakarta on Saturday, during the two-hour meeting, Jusuf Kalla (JK) also expressed his condolences to the Palestinian people who are victims of the conflict.

JK further explained that the eyes of the world are now on Gaza and that everyone is concerned about the security conditions and all aspects of life in Gaza.

“The world is shocked and deplores this humanitarian tragedy,” the statement read.

As president of the Indonesian Red Cross, JK revealed how difficult it was to distribute aid in Gaza due to the blockade imposed by Israel.

He also advised the Hamas organization to always show unity and solidarity with Fatah, including Hamas’ internal relations, in order to create improvements in the conditions in Palestine.

According to him, without unity of aspirations and institutions, the strangeness of the solution to the Gaza problem will only increase.

JK also proposed to implement a humanitarian plan in Gaza, for example, by developing programs based on a scale of priorities, such as treating the wounded and sick, saving women, the elderly and children, so as not to increase the number of victims of the war.

However, JK reminded Haniyeh that all this could only be effective if the violence could be stopped first.

“If the violence can be stopped, then the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Gaza can be done automatically. “All our efforts must come from a humanitarian perspective, not from political and ideological views,” the official statement reads.

In the meeting, Ismail Haniyeh also explained the latest conditions in Gaza, including the developing humanitarian and political problems.

He also highly praised the diplomatic position and role of the Republic of Indonesia, their provision of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, their contribution in treating the injured victims, their popular movement in demonstrations and their broad solidarity with the Palestinian people.
