JBS prepares tourist toll service for Eid

PT Jasamarga Balikpapan Samarinda (JBS), as the operator of the Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road, has prepared a service strategy to project the peak traffic volume (traffic) for the long holiday of Idul Fitri 1445 Hijriah on Friday.

“With an estimated 9,057 vehicles entering through the Palaran Toll (GT) towards Balikpapan city. This figure increased by 4.02% compared to the peak return flow in 2023 which reached 8,707 vehicles,” he said PT JBS Principal Director Muhammad Taufiq in Balikpapan, Friday.

He said the spike in traffic volume was caused by people using the Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road to visit relatives out of town or travel to various favorite destinations around Balikpapan.

To ensure the safety and fluidity of tourist traffic, PT JBS has prepared a Jasa Marga Siaga operational team and operational fleets of six units. Mobile customer service (MCS)/Patrol, five PJR units, eight crane units, two units to saveand three units security cell phone.

“This 97.27 kilometer toll road makes it easier for people to access tourist areas around the toll plaza,” Taufiq said.

Some of the favorite tourist attractions that can be visited via Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road are Lamaru Beach and Manggar Beach in Jalan Mulawarman, Teritip Village. It can be accessed via GT Manggar.

“Then, via GT Karang Joang, there is the Margomulyo mangrove forest tour which offers the charm of tropical rain forests and various types of mangroves, black fire plants, nipah, pidada and bintaro trees,” he said.

Taufiq added that, through GT Samboja, there is a tour of Bangkirai Hill which features a natural tropical rainforest with tourist facilities such as restaurants, lamin, chaletand forestry cabins. Toll road users can also visit the Nusantara Capital Zero Point location via GT Samboja.

PT JBS has appealed to toll road users to ensure their vehicles and bodies are in tip-top condition, ensure sufficient e-money balances and maintain driving speeds according to regulations.

Afterwards, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, respect road signs and relax at the rest and service area (TIP) at KM 36 towards Samarinda and at Km 37 towards Balikpapan.
