Jakarta residents are excited to enjoy the Blue Moon phenomenon at TIM: Okezone Techno

JAKARTA – Jakarta residents seemed excited to enjoy the Blue Moon phenomenon in the Planetarium area, Taman Ismail Marzuki Complex (TIM), Central Jakarta, Thursday (30/8/2023) evening WIB. The Jakarta Planetarium organized a joint observation of the Blue Moon phenomenon by installing 10 telescopes.

A Blue Moon occurs when there are two full moons in a calendar month. Although the name is “Blue”, this phenomenon is actually not related to the blue color of the moon. The term refers more to the rarity of this special event.

The appearance of the Blue Moon is a special attraction for many people and is rare. This phenomenon is capable of providing a unique and profound experience to those who observe it, and is an interesting topic to discuss in the astronomy community.

Jakarta residents of different age groups and backgrounds take part in this phenomenon. Starting from the families who brought their children to astrophysicists, everyone united with curiosity and admiration for the beauty of the Blue Moon.

One of them was Meilinda, who admitted that she was very intrigued by the Blue Moon phenomenon and wanted to witness it directly at the Planetarium.

“I am certainly happy, sister, to see so many people gathering to see the moon, a rare phenomenon, isn’t it, sister?” And also because the Jakarta Planetarium coincidentally offers free shows like this, I wish the opportunity was given directly,” he said.

“I hope to have some beautiful photos as a memory, and also experiences like this that I have never seen before. “Afterwards I want to enjoy the sky up close with my family,” added Meilinda.

The head of the administrative subdivision of the Management Unit of the Jakarta Arts Center TIM, DKI Jakarta Provincial Culture Service, Eko Wahyu Wibowo, admitted that he was quite satisfied with the great enthusiasm of the public during the Astromoni-related events.

“Thank God, people’s enthusiasm is quite high, like our other activities in the field of astronomy, it still attracts people’s attention, even tonight,” Eko said when meeting at TIM.

Approximately 392 participants witnessed the super blue moon phenomenon this evening, and it is possible that this number could still increase. According to Eko, many people come to TIM because places to study astronomy are limited.

“Perhaps the planetarium is one of the places that people look for to learn astronomy, so that when astronomical phenomena occur, people from outside Jakarta immediately come here to witness the existing phenomena,” Eko concluded. (Dinda Nabilah)
