Jakarta and Medan entered the top 10 most polluted cities in the world on Sunday morning
This concentration is equivalent to 12.4 times the World Health Organization (WHO) annual air quality guideline value.
Jakarta (MidLand) – DKI Jakarta and Medan were included on Sunday morning (29/9) in the list of the top ten cities with the worst or most polluted air quality in the world, based on data from the air quality monitoring site IQAir air.
The air quality in DKI Jakarta at 07:00 WIB was in the unhealthy category with an air quality index (AQI) of 156 and a fine particulate matter (PM) value of 2.5 with a pollutant concentration of 62 micrograms per cubic meter.

This concentration is equivalent to 12.4 times the World Health Organization (WHO) annual air quality guideline value.
This air quality index also made Jakarta the fourth most polluted city in the world on Sunday morning.
The city with the worst air quality in the world is Kinshasa, Congo, with an air quality index of 175; then Lahore, Pakistan with an index of 161, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates with an index of 156.

The city of Jakarta is in fourth place, then the city of Medan is in ninth place among the most polluted cities in the world with an index of 107.
A number of areas in Jakarta are recorded as having air quality in the unhealthy category, namely Cakung, Kebon Jeruk, Palmerah, Pantai Indah Kapuk and Kemayoran.

People are also advised to avoid outdoor activities, wear masks when outdoors, close windows to avoid dirty outside air and turn on air filters.
