ITPLN is determined to become a world-class campus through a series of transformations
Jakarta (MidLand) – PLN Institute of Technology (ITPLN) is determined to become a world-class campus and is seeking to realize this goal through a series of transformations in the education system.
“ITPLN has become a center of excellence in training and research in the energy sector. “Let us use the momentum of this Dies Natalis to strengthen our resolve and commitment to address existing challenges,” said ITPLN Chancellor Prof. Dr. Io. Iwa Garniwa MK, MT in his official statement in Jakarta, Monday.
Iwa said when it was established on April 1, 1988 under the name PLN Technical College (STT PLN), the management aimed to create a forum for PLN experts to pass on their knowledge to the nation’s future generations.

However, along the way, with strong coordination with the PLN Education and Welfare Foundation (YPK PLN), ITPLN is determined to become a tertiary institution capable of competing globally at a faster pace.
Therefore, through the 26th anniversary celebration of ITPLN entitled “26th Years ITPLN, Acceleration Becoming World Class University”, Iwa and his staff have carried out a series of transformational phases in different programs and collaborations.
For example, engaging professors from various foreign universities, sending students to visit and study at other foreign universities (e-mobility), holding a three-year study program at ITPLN and one year at the University of Auckland, and collaborating with external parties to facilitate programs internship and also allow each graduate to work abroad.
Meanwhile, during the Anniversary event, the campus organized a series of events that supported the education and social life of the campus community, such as scientific seminars and speeches, science olympics, social services, various sports competitions and social media competitions.
Besides that, the campus also launched a new vision and mission, introduced and implemented the Whistle Blower System (WBS), held classes using English and Indonesian, and launched the ITPLN rhyme collection book.
ITPLN itself now has four faculties, namely the Faculty of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Faculty of Energy Technologies and Economics, the Faculty of Infrastructure and Regional Technology and the Faculty of Energy Telematics.
There are also postgraduate and professional education services. In total, the institute offers 17 study programs and will continue to grow, including at the doctoral level.
