Innovative and financial literacy-intensive, BRI receives a prestigious award from LPS

Jakarta (MidLand) — For its contribution in providing financial literacy to the public, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has received appreciation from the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) in two categories, namely as the most active bank in socialization of Deposit Guarantee Program and the most innovative bank in socialization of Deposit Guarantee Program for KBMI (Core Capital Based Banking Group) 4 at the LPS Award 2023 event held in Jakarta (06/12).

Andrijanto, Director of BRI Network and Services, who was present to accept the award, revealed that BIS is committed to becoming a leading bank in encouraging financial inclusion and literacy in Indonesia.

The LPS Award is an appreciation event for the banking sector and journalists who support and play an active role in the advancement of the financial sector and in increasing financial literacy to boost the national economy.

Meanwhile, in his speech, LPS Board of Commissioners Chairman Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the LPS Awards event was a form of appreciation for those in the banking and media sectors.

“We are organizing the LPS Awards event which awards prizes to banking industry players who are active in advancing the financial sector in driving the national economy, and this year it will also be expanded to give appreciation to fellow journalists who have helped LPS to increase public awareness of the role of deposit insurance,” Purbaya said.

As of the end of September 2023, total deposits at the BIS had reached IDR 1,290.29 trillion, or had grown by 13.21% year-on-year. The main support for BIS third-party funds still comes from low-cost funds (CASA), with a share reaching 63.64% or IDR 821.14 trillion. The highest growth was recorded by BRI Giro which grew by 28.12% year-on-year.

Going forward, BIS is committed to continuing to provide education and literacy to the public with the hope that by further increasing public literacy, we can boost the national economy.

“The Indonesian people’s trust in the banking sector is an important key to maintaining the sector’s resilience and economic stability. The existence of the Savings Loan Institution (LPS) therefore became very important. “Therefore, the BIS is committed to continue to socialize LPS in the future to increase the public’s sense of security and trust in the banking sector in Indonesia,” Andrijanto concluded.
