Indosat partners with Mastercard to collaborate on cybersecurity
Indosat President, Director and CEO Vikram Sinha said this collaboration aims to protect and increase trust in Indonesia’s digital economy.
“We are honored to be able to help overcome cybersecurity challenges in Asia Pacific, particularly Indonesia. “We are confident that the efforts we are making today will improve Indonesia’s cybersecurity human resources in the future,” she said.
Vikram said the Indosat-Mastercard Cyber Security Center of Excellence aims to overcome the talent shortage in the digital sector, especially in cybersecurity.

This collaboration focuses on three main pillars, namely education to improve the quality of human resources in the field of cybersecurity through increased access to cybersecurity education and training, innovation through research in different areas key cybersecurity and digital trust using the latest technology, as well as industry collaboration to detect and mitigate fraud.
It said cybersecurity challenges are increasing around the world, with losses expected to rise to US$14 trillion in 2028, from US$8 trillion in 2023.
The latest global survey also revealed that 72% of cyber attacks in Asia were caused by a lack of cyber experts.

“This collaboration also helps strengthen the goal of creating one million digital talents in Indonesia. Furthermore, this commitment brings us closer to achieving the great goal of empowering every individual in Indonesia,” he said.
Vikram further said that the Cyber Security Center of Excellence marks an important milestone in both parties’ journey in safeguarding Indonesia’s digital future.
According to him, by focusing on capacity and skills development, this partnership is in line with the government’s vision towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.

This vision aims to position Indonesia as the fourth largest economy in the world by 2045 through increasing skills and human resource development as one of the main pillars.
“By leveraging global and local expertise and resources, Indosat-Mastercard Cybersecurity is poised to play a central role in enhancing Indonesia’s cybersecurity ecosystem, positioning Indonesia as a digital pioneer on the global stage,” he said.
Also present at the inauguration of Indosat-Mastercard Cybersecurity were Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach, representatives from the Bandung Institute of Technology and other senior executives from Indosat and Mastercard.
