Indosat Ooredo Hutchison Convinces Microsoft to Use AI to Become a TechCo
Jakarta (MidLand) – Telecommunications company Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) has appointed technology company Microsoft to carry out digital transformation into AI Native TechCo by maximizing the use of artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence/AI) during all company operations.
Continuing its collaboration with Microsoft, Indosat is using Copilot for Microsoft 365, an integrated artificial intelligence assistant, to increase productivity and connect communities across the Indonesian archipelago.
“At Indosat, we are not just integrating AI into our strategy; we are also fostering a culture of innovation. Our goal is to empower every Indonesian individual through AI-enriched solutions, ensuring that technology can have a positive impact on society,” IOH Chief Digital Officer Sanjeev Rawat said in a statement on Thursday.
Indosat’s approach is in line with the Microsoft Work Trend Index 2024 which shows the changes in work dynamics in Indonesia with the use of artificial intelligence.

The study finds that 92% of Indonesian professionals use generative AI in the workplace, and 92% of leaders consider AI important to increase competitiveness.
This high adoption demonstrates the importance of using AI technology at various levels of the workforce. This means that leaders who understand the value of AI can motivate employees and turn it into real business benefits.
Sanjeev said that in practice, the division he heads believes that Copilot for Microsoft 365 offers optimal assistance by assuming its role as a digital assistant.
For example, he said his division, accustomed to working with IT and digital operations, often has little time to process routine reports in the form of documents or content management. Having Copilot for Microsoft 365 has allowed the team to solve these challenges in a short amount of time.
“As if we had an intelligent assistant that understands our needs, this tool simplifies our tasks. It not only increases productivity but also allows us to focus on strategic initiatives and customer service. With efficient management of resources, Indosat can improve the quality of service to more of its vast base of 100 million customers and drive the growth of the company,” said Sanjeev.
Some of the features of Copilot for Microsoft 365 include streamlining various tasks such as organizing meeting schedules, summarizing meeting minutes, preparing emails, and much more.
Its use at Indosat is now expanding from the Digital Division to other Divisions, including Human Resources (HR), Business-to-Business (B2B) and Networks.
In its transformation from Telco to AI Native TechCo, Indosat is supported by Microsoft in using Copilot to increase business impact and strategic contribution to digital connectivity.
Microsoft Indonesia President and Director Dharma Simorangkir said his party was happy because they could present digital solutions in line with IOH’s vision of achieving digital transformation.
“Integrating Microsoft Copilot into daily work not only increases productivity within the company, but also creates a broad impact outside of Indosat. Through increased effectiveness and innovation, Indosat is driving digital connectivity across Indonesia. This is evidence of the power of technology to drive social media impact and Microsoft is very excited to be part of this historic journey,” said Dharma.
