JAKARTA – There are another 13 million hack attacks entering Indonesia. This has resulted in Indonesia being ranked 66th on the list of countries frequently experiencing cyber-attacks.
Report from Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), Wednesday (2/8/2023), worms and file viruses are responsible for most of these incidents. Attacks are often done by spreading malware via removable USB drives, CDs and DVDs, and other offline methods.
Overall, 28.3% of users in Indonesia were targeted by local threats from April to June 2023. However, this figure decreased by 3.83% compared to the same period last year, in which 13,533,656 attacks detected.
Kaspersky said that of all incoming attacks, 7,729,320 online threat detections were successfully blocked during the period from April to June this year. This is a 30% decrease from 11,083,474 detections in the same period last year.
Additionally, this is a slight increase (1%) from the January-March period (Q1) of this year with 7,651,841 online threat detections. Overall, 21.7% of users were targeted by online threats during the second quarter of 2023. This data is in line with Kaspersky’s previous forecasts.

Kaspersky itself has predicted that there will be many data leaks that will target both the individual and the business. While there has been a decrease in the number of online and offline threats, the number of detections is still considered relatively high.
“We urge all business and individual users to take action to build cybersecurity defenses as so much of their personal data and assets are involved in all digital activity,” said Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager Southeast Asia at Kaspersky .

- Check each link carefully before visiting the site, especially for spelling errors or other irregularities.
- Do not trust emails from unknown senders until you can verify their authenticity.
- Do not install applications from untrusted sources, even if they are actively advertised, and block the installation of programs from unknown sources in the smartphone settings
- Don’t grant accessibility permissions to any app that requests it – very few programs actually need power over this.
- Use a secure network, especially when visiting sensitive websites. As a minimum precaution, do not use public or unknown Wi-Fi without password protection. For maximum protection, use a VPN solution that encrypts your traffic. Always remember: if you use an unsecured connection, cybercriminals can surreptitiously redirect you to phishing pages.
