This marks the 17th meeting between the two countries in this world elite team badminton event. The Indonesian and Japanese women’s teams have each shared eight victories in the last 16 meetings.
For this match, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung will be the first Indonesian women’s singles player and will face the best player Akane Yamaguchi.
The two players have also met other times in the past, both in individual and team matches. On paper, Yamaguchi is 14-4 ahead of Gregoria, with the last match won by Japan’s first women’s singles player in the quarterfinals of the 2024 All England Open through a tight match 10-21, 22-20, 18-21 .

Even though Matsuyama/Chida are a senior pair and are consistently in the top 10 in the world, this does not exclude the possibility for the young Indonesian pair to perform freely and well in the next match.
Subsequently, in the second sector of the singles, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo will meet Aya Ohori. This is their second meeting after the last one in the group stage of the 2020 Uber Cup. At that time, Ohori won over Ester with a score of 21-14, 21-7.
