JAKARTA – WhatsApp continues to innovate to develop a security system for users. More recently, they are developing layered security features that will make it difficult for criminals to map users’ locations.
Through this feature, WhatsApp wants to protect users’ IP addresses in WhatsApp calls. This feature is available to some WhatsApp Android and iOS beta testers.
As reported by WABetaInfo, users can enable layered security by looking at a new section called “Advanced” or “Advanced.” This feature is located on the privacy settings screen.
Next, an IP address protection option will appear in calls that users can use to avoid crimes and stay safe when using WhatsApp.
“By turning on the call forwarding option, you will add an extra layer of anonymity to your communications, and we think this is especially useful when interacting with people you previously didn’t trust,” says the report cited by Gadgetsnow, Monday (10/16/2023).
“As previously mentioned, this additional protection results in call quality that may be slower, as the data must be sent through WhatsApp servers to be anonymized,” he continued.
It is important to note that call quality may be slightly affected by this feature due to the encryption process and routing of user connections during calls via WhatsApp servers.
