Huawei announces the winners of the Asia Pacific 2024 ICT competition
Jakarta (MidLand) – Huawei announced the winners of the Asia Pacific 2024 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Competition, during an awards ceremony held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta on Thursday.
In his remarks, Huawei Asia Pacific President Simon Lin Bai Feng said this year’s competition, which has been running since 2015, attracted more than 170,000 students worldwide.
“In Asia Pacific, more than 6,400 students from 14 countries and regions took part in the national finals. And I am very confident that all of you will continue to excel in the global finals,” Simon said.
Simon said his party aims to increase the influence of this contest every year. Starting in 2023, he said, Huawei has added new processing lines, along with networking and cloud lines.

Besides that, the party also designed more interactive activities to improve students’ leadership and working skills.
During this process, we were very happy to see many ideas for using 5G, cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) to promote sustainable development.
Simon added that throughout this competition, Huawei has received strong support from various parties, such as the ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN Foundation, UNESCO and other partners.
“Together, we have launched many training projects for SMEs and youth. Together, we hope to train more ICT leaders, professionals and innovators in Asia Pacific,” he said.

Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Jakarta, Maki Katsuno-Hayashikawa, added that the finals and prizes of the eighth Huawei Asia Pacific ICT competition marked an important milestone in the digital technology in education program.
He considered this event a proof of the dedication and hard work of all the educational communities involved, including the participants of the ICT competition and their respective schools.
“I offer my sincere congratulations to the talented individuals whose tireless efforts have contributed to this competition. Your passion for pursuing excellence and thirst for knowledge is truly inspiring, setting an extraordinary standard for future generations of students,” he stated.
There are four categories in this competition: Network Track, Innovation Track, Cloud Track and Computing Track.

Bandung Institute of Technology took first place or won the Grand Prize in the Network Track, while Cebu Institute of Technology of the Philippines won the Grand Prize in the Innovation Track.
Meanwhile, the Grand Prize for Cloud Track was awarded to Singapore Polytechnic. Meanwhile, i-Academy of the Philippines emerged as the regional champion for the new category, namely Computing Track.
Not only that, 16 other teams from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Macao were also awarded first, second and third place in the four categories in which they competed. they are classified. competed.
The champions will represent their respective regions at the global final of the Huawei ICT competition in Shenzhen in May 2024.
