HR needs to sharpen its skills to strengthen government’s strategic communications
Jakarta (MidLand) – Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Sekjen Kemenkominfo) Mira Tayyiba said that human resources (HR) in government public relations need to regularly sharpen their skills to strengthen the government’s strategic communications.
One thing that can be done to sharpen these skills is through workshops to understand communication frameworks and strategies in dealing with the technological revolution.
“Holding workshops will broaden horizons and deepen understanding of the role of communication strategies in responding to various future challenges. “I am sure that this seminar has enriched our knowledge and skills as government officials responsible for conveying news related to government policies and regulations,” Mira said in the official statement received on Friday.

Mira also conveyed this statement to government-level public relations human resources at a collaborative workshop between the Ministry of Communication and Information and the British Government Communications Service International (GCSI) on Thursday (7/3).
In the event titled “International Strategic Communication Workshop Series” one of the materials taught to participants was about managing disinformation.
“Over the past three days, participants explored discussions surrounding delivering successful communication, crisis communication, misinformation, disinformation, strategic communication, as well as the RESIST framework (Recognition, early warning, situational vision, impact analysis, strategic communications, effectiveness monitoring),” he said.
Therefore, Mira hopes that, amid the polarization of discourse and the presence of disinformation in the digital space, workshop participants can more consistently implement strategies to manage trust and credibility in government institutions.
Secretary General Mira appreciated the UK Government’s support in organizing workshops aimed at increasing the Government’s strategic communications capacity.
He hopes that cooperation between Indonesia and the UK will further increase in the future.
“I also hope that the cooperation between Indonesia and the British government can continue to develop and produce more opportunities in the future,” Mira said.
British Ambassador to Indonesia Dominic Jermey expressed his pride in the UK’s collaboration with Indonesia at a seminar on maximizing opportunities and overcoming government communications challenges.
“Through this workshop, England and Indonesia can learn and share each other’s experiences in communication. “How to build the resilience of government communication in the face of misinformation and misinformation,” he said.
In particular, the British ambassador also hopes that cooperation will continue to develop to increase the capacity of government communicators in the future.
