Hotel occupancy in Mataram is expected to be at 70% during the 2024 MXGP

Our goal is that hotel occupancy on Friday (6/28) can reach more than 70%.

Mataram (MidLand) – The Mataram Hotel Association (AHM) of West Nusa Tenggara province aims to achieve 70% hotel occupancy in the city of Mataram during the Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) taking place at the Selaparang Circuit of city of Mataram from 27 to 7 June. July 2024.

“Our goal is that hotel occupancy on Friday (6/28) can reach more than 70%,” AHM I Made president Adiyasa Kurniawan said in Mataram on Monday.

Adiyasa admitted that in this business AHM could not aim for hotel occupancy to reach 100% like during the MotoGP event at the Mandalika circuit.

The reason is because MXGP and MotoGP motorcycle racing events are very different. MotoGP is already known nationally, while MXGP is just starting to be released.

“Therefore, guests who will watch MotoGP should book hotels well in advance before MotoGP takes place,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to information received from hoteliers in Mataram last Sunday evening (23/6), hotel occupancy is currently still at normal levels, i.e. around 50-55%.

This figure does not yet show an increase, even though the school holiday season has begun. However, from the information, a hockey competition will be held at the Turide Mataram Sports Arena (GOR) from June 25 to 29, 2024 from eight provinces.

“But we don’t know where they will stay because the athletes are looking for accommodation. Maybe now the athletes are already in Mataram,” he said.

On the other hand, Adiyasa continued, so far hoteliers have not received hotel reservations even though the MXGP motorcycle event is only a matter of days away.

“But we hope that hotel occupancy can increase on Friday or in the last two days of the first series match,” he said.

According to him, based on the experience of MXGP 2023, guests who stayed in different hotels recognized that they came to watch the concert of the DEWA-19 music group, not for the MXGP.

“They found out that MXGP was there only when they were on site. Last year the committee submitted DEWA-19 for entertainment activities,” he said.

Aside from that, he added, the guests who stayed at the hotel during the MXGP were mostly local guests or still NTB residents who wanted to watch DEWA-19.

“We hope this year will be better. Also, from the information the committee will introduce Raisa at the MXGP Selaparang entertainment event.” He said.
