History of Unair Robotics Students can study at the University of Edinburgh thanks to IISMA

TIME.CO, Jakarta – Fathia Feriztha Saifuddin, student of the Faculty of Robotics Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (TRKB) of Advanced and Multidisciplinary Technology (FTMM) of the University of Airlangga o Unair he is currently studying at the University of Edinburgh until 23 December 2023. He managed to get to the campus in England thanks to the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards scholarship (IISMA).

Through the IISMA program, student You can choose a university abroad and study for a semester. “I chose the University of Edinburgh because the courses available suited my interests,” said Fathia, quoted by the Unair website, Thursday 26 October 2023.

For the rest, according to Fathia, for some years this school has consistently been included among the 50 best universities in the world. “Scottish culture and its interesting architecture also made me choose it,” Fathia said.

The campus has modern architecture, but there are still numerous buildings with medieval (medieval), Georgian and neoclassical architecture. “Although some buildings on campus follow modern architecture, there are still buildings with ancient architecture known as Old College,” Fathia said.

Another thing that was interesting to him were the various non-academic activities on campus. Some of these activities are sports clubs as forums for students interested in sports and society to channel students’ interests.

“Very sports club AND society that is offered. “It took us four days to introduce students to non-academic activities through exhibits,” Fathia said.

Scholarship selection process

Like other applicants, Fathia had to go through a series of processes until she was declared accepted as a recipient of the IISMA scholarship. She goes through two phases, namely the administration phase and the interview phase.

In the administrative phase, candidates upload various documents, such as an English language certificate, four essays, a letter from the course manager, a letter signed by parents and so on. After declaring that they have passed the first phase, the students will proceed to the interview phase which will take place in English and lasts a maximum of 30 minutes.

According to Fathia, the first thing that comes to students’ minds when they want to participate in IISMA or other student exchanges is doubt. According to him, everyone must fight this feeling of doubt and have the courage to try.

Even if it fails or doesn’t meet expectations, it will be a lesson to be better in the future. “There is always valuable learning from failure and this becomes preparation for the next opportunity. If you are brave enough to dream it, then be brave and do something to make it a reality.“said Fazia.
