This letter was issued considering that the air in Banjarmasin city is unhealthy due to the increasingly dense smoke haze affecting this area. “Of course, forest and land fires during the dry season in this province also affect the city of Banjarmasin,” she said.

Nuryadi said this condition is increasingly affecting the health of teaching staff and students, especially as data from the Banjarmasin City Health Service shows that upper respiratory tract infections (ARIs) are on the rise. “Current data presented by the Banjarmasin City Health Office indicates that there are more than 6,000 ISPA cases,” she said.

According to Nuryadi, referring to these data, a coordination meeting was held to determine the necessary measures to suppress the increase in ARI diseases, until the decision on the implementation of PJJ in the school has been made.

In implementing the PJJ, he continued, the education unit continues to monitor students’ health and learning progress and urges students not to engage in activities outside the home.
