Haidar Alwi: The National Police arrested the perpetrator who interrupted the event as a proof of justice
Jakarta (MidLand) – The founder of the Haidar Alwi Institute (HAI), R. Haidar Alwi, said that the work of the National Police in following up the case of the forced dissolution of a discussion event on Saturday (28/9) by part of the arrest of two of the culprits was a proof of the justice of the institution.
According to him, the arrest of the offender was a response to the growing stigma in society that those who were at odds with the government were considered difficult to obtain justice.
“It turns out that this stigma is not true. The National Police has demonstrated that justice belongs to everyone, including those who are known to tend to be cynical towards the government,” Haidar Alwi said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday . .
Haidar Alwi also appreciated the speed of action of the police in arresting the two perpetrators.
“Thank you for the swift action of the police in responding to threats to the freedom of opinion and assembly guaranteed by the constitution,” he said.

He also asked the public to give support and trust to the National Police to thoroughly investigate this case.
Public support and trust play a very important role in the performance of the National Police, in addition to criticism and constructive contributions.
“We support the National Police to reveal intellectual perpetrators and whether there are violations of SOPs by personnel serving in the field,” he said.

Previously, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya named two suspects in forced dissolution and alleged abuse at a seminar held on Saturday (28/9) at the Grand Kemang Hotel, South Jakarta.
“We have arrested five people and two people have been named as suspects,” the director of general criminal investigations at the Polda Metro Jaya Wira Satya Triputra police commissionerate in Jakarta said on Sunday (29/9).
Meanwhile, three more people are being investigated by detectives from a joint team from the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Jaya Metropolitan Police and the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
He said the two suspects were charged under Article 170 and Article 406 of the Penal Code with battery and destruction of goods or property. Then article 170 and article 351 of the Criminal Code regarding abuse.
The case of alleged criminal acts of violence and abuse occurred on Saturday morning (28/9) during a seminar held at the Grand Kemang Hotel, South Jakarta, when dozens of people broke into the seminar venue.
