Jakarta (MidLand) – Mambaul Maarif Denanyar Jombang custodian KH Abdussalam Shohib or Gus Salam responded nonchalantly to the issue of dissolving the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Extraordinary Congress (MLB).
According to him, what the kiai are doing cannot be ignored because freedom of association and expression is protected by the Constitution and regulated by law.
“If anyone comes to the MLB event, whether they agree or disagree, or even plan to disband, we will invite them to have coffee, discuss and recite the Quran,” Gus Salam said in his statement Sunday in Jakarta.
Gus Salam explained that MLB will be called based on science and morality, so it does not require any treatment.
He admitted that he will not stop fighting for the sake of NU, Nahdliyin and the Indonesian people. Therefore, Gus Salam said, whatever challenges and obstacles they face, they will be faced.
“All threats, intimidations, violence are never given the same response, but we respond with tenderness, compassion and wisdom. “We hope that Ansor, Banser, Pagar Nusa behave in a more mature, wise and proportionate way,” he added.
He also recalled that the three autonomous bodies of the NU, namely the Ansor Youth Movement, Banser and Pagar Nusa, have the task of protecting the ulama, both structurally and culturally, as well as the educators of the Islamic colleges without making distinctions on the ijtihad in organizing.
“I am sure that the friends of Ansor, Banser and Pagar Nusa will always act according to conscience, knowledge, akhlaqul karimah “as an implementation of the principles of the Nahdlatul Ulama,” he said.
He added that Ansor, Banser and Pagar Nusa have always been in the middle when there were differences and dynamics in attitudes between the NU Executive Committee (PBNU) and the NU, as well as between Gus Dur, Kiai Hasyim Muzadi, Kiai Hasyim, Kiai Said and Gus Solah in the past Then.
“I am sure that the friends will remain steadfast on the same path,” Gus Salam said.
