MidLand, Jakarta – Google launched the developer preview for Android 15 on Friday, February 16, 2024. Referring to the report GSM Arenacited Between, Google plans to make another DP version in March, followed by the first Beta version in April, and the second Beta in May. The stability phase of the platform begins in June before the final release after July.
As usual with early DPs, there isn’t much new stuff included and the highlights are mostly developer focused. There is support for partial screen sharing in Android 15meaning users can only share or record an app window, not the entire screen.

Quoted Gizmochina, Android 15 will allow users to have more control over how ads are displayed in detail. A new menu called Ads has been added to the Privacy & Security section in Settings. This helps you check which apps are tracking activity on your phone to show ads.
Some apps can provide personalized ads by tracking activity on your phone. With the FLEDGE API in Android 15, users can now prevent apps from tracking activity. This does not mean, however, that mobile advertising will be removed completely. However, this ensures that your data will not be shared with specified third-party applications.
Another new feature in Android 15 features partial screen recording. Users can record some parts of the application. This is useful for users who often record their cell phone screen or need to broadcast their cell phone screen when making video calls.

Another improvement: Google is working on better camera optimization for third-party apps. The first version of the Android 15 Developer Preview is currently only available for the Pixel 6 series and later. This means that software support for Pixel 5 series devices has officially ended. Android 15 will be available for Pixel 6a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.
