Educational unit institutions need to strengthen system-based child protection services
Jakarta (MidLand) – The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) highlights the importance of the role of family and environment in building a child protection system to prevent violence in educational units.
“Activate the role of the family, peer groupsocial media in building a child protection system in the best interest of children,” said KPAI member Aris Adi Leksono when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He highlighted the increasing number of cases of violence in educational units in 2024, with some victims even dying.
In addition to the role of family and environment, KPAI emphasizes the need for education and training for teachers regarding competence and learning ability protection of children.
Additionally, social media controls are needed to make it child-friendly.
“Educational unit institutions must strengthen child protection services referral system“said Aris Adi Leksono.

Therefore involve and strengthen the role of professional teachers’ organisations.
KPAI also requested that the ratio of guidance and counseling (BK) teachers in educational units be proportional and/or that each teacher be given basic and counseling psychology skills strengthening.
“Positive disciplinary training for parents and teachers is needed,” said Aris Adi Leksono.
Therefore, periodic evaluations are needed between ministries/institutions, regional task forces and Prevention and Management of Violence in Educational Unit Environments (PPKSP) teams regarding joint efforts to prevent and manage violence in educational units.
