Expert: The appearance of Raffi Ahmad is a new phenomenon in the Central Java regional elections

Jakarta (MidLand) – The principal of FISIP, Diponegoro University, Teguh Yuwono, said that the emergence of Raffi Ahmad, who is rumored to run with Kendal Regent Dico Ganinduto as a pair of candidates for governor and deputy governor, is a new phenomenon in the village. “What has emerged now with Raffi Ahmad and Dico is a new phenomenon in the competition for governor (Pilgub) election in Central Java,” Teguh said when contacted by MidLand from Jakarta.

Because so far young figures and artists have nominated themselves in Central Java as council members, both for the DPRD and for the DPR RI.

He cannot deny that when viewed from the perspective of political power, Sultan Andara does not have the foundation and strength of a political party. However, Raffi has a solid foundation of popularity, artistry and performance.

“I think it will be interesting, a map of Central Java,” he said.

Besides that, the existence of old ruling figures has also revived the political map of Central Java for quite a long time and has the potential to advance to the simultaneous Pilkada of 2024.

They are Central Java PDI Perjuangan DPD Chairman Bambang Pacul, former Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi, Central Java PKB DPW Chairman Muhammad Yusuf Chudlori or Gus Yusuf, and Central Java Gerindra Party DPD Chairman Sudaryono.

Earlier on Wednesday (5/8), Raffi Ahmad’s name appeared on the nomination radar for the 2024 Central Java regional elections by the Golkar party.

Currently the Golkar party is still working on names, one of which is Raffi Ahmad, who is in the market to become deputy governor (cawagub) of Central Java.

Raffi Ahmad’s name emerged after a video circulated on social media showing Raffi Ahmad taking a photo with Kendal regent and Golkar cadre Dico Ganinduto. In the video, both are seen wearing white shirts and black caps.

“We are also monitoring Raffi’s name. He is on our radar,” Golkar vice president Ahmad Doli told reporters.

Doli said his party is currently testing names in an internal survey. According to him, there is still a possibility that new names will emerge to be nominated in each region.

2. From 24 April to 31 May 2024: presentation of a list of potential voters;

3. From 5 May to 19 August 2024: fulfillment of the requirements for the maintenance of individual candidate spouses;

4. From 31 May to 23 September 2024: updating and compilation of electoral lists;

5. From 24 to 26 August 2024: announcement of the registration of candidate pairs;

6. From 27 to 29 August 2024: registration of candidate pairs;

7. From 27 August to 21 September 2024: requirements for research candidates;

8. September 22, 2024: Determination of candidate pairs;

9. From 25 September to 23 November 2024: implementation of the campaign;

10. November 27, 2024: Voting; AND

11. November 27 to December 16, 2024: Vote counting and summary of vote counting results.
