Erick Thohir: The Mekaar program is evidence of government support for MSMEs

Jakarta (MidLand) – Minister of State-owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the success of the Civil National Capital (PNM) program is evidence of the government’s support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Erick said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) praised the program to boost the economy of wealthy families (Mekaar) assisted by the PNM. This program represents the government’s effort to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs.
“Mr President, I have been Minister of BUMN since the beginning, and I believe that MSMEs must be the basis of the national economy, so that not only the large ones continue to develop, but also the small ones continue to grow and develop create classy MSME entrepreneurs superior and, God willing, they too will become great,” Erick said in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Erick said, training Jack Ultra micro BUMN (uMi), composed of BRI, Pegadaian and PNM, in September 2021 is a commitment to support the development of MSMEs.
He believes that SMEs form the backbone of the current and future Indonesian economy.
Currently, the number of customers who are members of Jack Ultra-micro state-owned enterprises are above double digits. Erick detailed that BIS ultra micro customers reached 36.6 million customers, while PNM had 15.2 million customers and Pegadaian had 24 million customers.
Erick is optimistic that through good customer service and ongoing coaching, an ecosystem of honest, disciplined and hard-working small business owners will be formed.
“This is demonstrated by the good performance of customers who pay their installments regularly,” Erick said.

President Joko Widodo meets PNM Mekaar participants at Gemilang Stadium, Magelang regency, Central Java province, Monday (29/1). In his speech, Jokowi expressed his joy at being able to meet the participants of the Mekaar program again.
“Maybe I haven’t met PNM Mekaar customers for more than four years and today, in 2024, the first to meet me are the customers of Magelang Regency. I’m happy because the spirit is still the spirit of ’45, sir,” Jokowi said.
Besides that, the President was also happy because the distribution of loans through PNM Mekaar has increased significantly since it was launched in 2015. The number of active customers of PNM Mekaar has also now increased from thousands to millions of customers.
“I am also happy because in 2015, then, only IDR 800 billion was distributed to around 400 thousand customers, now there are 15.2 million active customers and IDR 237 trillion distributed,” he said.
