Erdogan: Israel is taking advantage of regional conflicts to expand its occupation

“As at the beginning of the last century, the cunning plan of tracing the borders of our territory with blood has been put into practice,”

ISTANBUL (MidLand) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of deliberately using regional conflicts as a pretext to justify growing “occupation and territorial expansion”.

“As at the beginning of the last century, a cunning plan to draw our borders with blood has been put into practice,” Erdogan said on Saturday (5/10), referring to imperialist plans at the end of the First World War.

According to him, Israel uses the conflict with the Palestinian group Hamas, the Lebanese group Hezbollah, Yemen, Syria and Iran as an excuse to justify its crimes.

“The Israeli government presents new justifications every day to legitimize its policy of occupation and invasion,” Erdogan said.

Meanwhile, according to Erdogan, Western countries ignored Israel’s actions because of their guilt over the Holocaust.

He called on Israel’s supporters to act “rationally” and stop supporting Tel Aviv’s policies.

“Otherwise, the fire lit by the bloody Israeli government will burn not only this region and the people who live here, but you too,” he warned.

Erdogan also highlighted Palestinian resistance to Israel’s treatment in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 or almost a year ago.

There are no crimes and barbarism that can break the resistance of the people of Gaza, he said.

“Our brothers in Gaza heroically fought the Zionist invaders for 364 days despite all difficulties,” he said.

Reiterating Türkiye’s position, Erdogan said Ankara will firmly support Gaza in every way possible.

Turkey has never hesitated to say at UN meetings the same things it has conveyed to domestic audiences, he said.

Turkey is the only country to impose economic sanctions on Israel, he said.

Erdogan urged the Islamic world to take economic and trade steps to prevent Israeli aggression.

“It’s more than just a choice, it’s an obligation,” he said.
