Elementary school student dies when falling from 4th floor, DKI education department prepares trauma recovery for students and teachers

TIME.CO, Jakarta – The provincial government of DKI Jakarta is focusing on trauma recovery student and teachers at State Primary School (SDN) 06 Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, after their students fell from the 4th floor of the school building to their deaths.

“Our assessment actually leads to the ‘next’ (next phase),” said DKI Jakarta Education Service acting head Purwosusilo when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

Purwosusilo said teachers and students who saw or heard the incident needed to exercise caution so as not to cause trauma. According to Purwosusilo, students, teachers or school officials on the scene will definitely be curious and will see the incident directly or hear other people’s stories.

Therefore, the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta through the Educational Service of DKI Jakarta, in cooperation with the Provincial Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Service of DKI Jakarta, and the relevant Indonesian Child Protection Commission childhood will try to solve this problem.

Aside from that, Purwosusilo said, the recovery and assistance is not only carried out for SDN 06 Pesanggrahan students, but applies to all DKI Jakarta students.

“Because everyone can hear and see. Even children can see news, videos, the Internet and so on, so we will provide assistance,” Purwosusilo said.

The teaching and learning process at SDN 06 Pesanggrahan in South Jakarta was temporarily interrupted. The process will take place via distance learning (PJJ) for an indefinite time.

The provincial government of DKI Jakarta (Pemprov) stressed that no bullying occurred against the students of SDN 06 Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, who died after falling from the 4th floor of the school building.

“No (victim of bullying), not like that. There are teachers, there are school principals, there are sub-departments, there are fathers, they are all here,” Purwosusilo said.

Purwosusilo said the student previously attended classes with his teacher and did sports on the school field.
