Officers from the East Jakarta Gulkarmat sub-department together with hospital staff first rescued the patients who were trapped inside the building.
Jakarta (MidLand) – Dozens of officers from the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department (Gulkarmat) put out a fire in the Harapan Bunda hospital building on Thursday (3/7) evening.
“The fire was reported at 19:00 WIB, the fire extinguishing status was declared complete and there were no casualties in this incident,” said the head of the operations section of East Jakarta’s Gulkarmat sub-department, Gatot Sulaeman, in the his statement in Jakarta.
A total of 11 fire brigade units with a total of 55 personnel were deployed. After approximately 1 hour of extinguishing operations, the fire was put out.
At 21:07 WIB, the status of the operation was declared complete and all teams left the fire scene on Jalan Raya Jakarta-Bogor KM 22 Number 44 Ciracas.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire is suspected to have been first seen in the server room on the 4th floor of the building.
During the blackout that occurred at 7.12pm WIB, officers from East Jakarta’s Gulkarmat sub-department together with hospital staff first rescued patients who were trapped in the building. Patients were temporarily evacuated out of the building.
At 20:25 WIB, the extinguishing system entered the cooling phase to break down the flammable materials so that no fire or smoke remained.
“There were no deaths or injuries in this incident. The evacuated patients were returned to their rooms safely. It is currently suspected that the fire occurred due to an electrical short circuit,” Gatot said.
